03 / Who we are
Who you would be commissioning
D&Z Sculptures manufactures large-scale bespoke sculpture in four materials — metal, bronze, marble and fiberglass — from a single facility covering casting, fabrication, stone work and finishing. Every commission is engineered before it is made: structural calculations, anchoring drawings and installation method statements are issued signed, because a sculpture at this scale is a structure before it is an object. We work with architects, landscape consultants, developers and hotel procurement teams, and we quote against drawings rather than a catalogue price. Most of what we make is bespoke; the catalogue exists to show what is achievable at a given scale and budget. If you know the setting and the sight lines, we can tell you what will work in it.
We work in metal, bronze, marble and fiberglass. See how the work is made, where it has been installed, and what a piece at this scale costs.

How a commission works
Typical programme
17–41 weeks
Brief
Site plan, sight lines, viewing distance, programme and budget band. We will not quote scale from a photograph alone.
1 week
Concept
Two or three directions as maquettes and visualisations set into your own site photography, each with an indicative band.
2–3 weeks
Engineering
One direction taken to full structural design: signed calculations, anchoring drawing, loading plan and a fixed price.
2–4 weeks
Production
Fabrication, casting or carving, then finishing. Reported with photographs at agreed milestones rather than on request.
8–24 weeks
Delivery and installation
Export crating, freight, then installation by our own team or supervised local rigging, with handover documentation.
4–9 weeks
Recent additions
The newest pieces out of the workshop, updated as they are catalogued.

What does a large sculpture cost?
What does a large sculpture cost? It depends on material, form, height and finish. Send a site plan, a photograph or a sketch and we will come back with a scale, a band and a programme.

Foundations for Heavy Sculpture: Who Designs WhatThe most common programme delay we see is a foundation nobody owned. Here is the division of responsibility that avoids it.

16 / FAQ
The questions we get before a quote
How long does a fiberglass sculpture last outdoors?

Fifteen to twenty-five years with a UV-stable pigmented gelcoat and an occasional wash. Colour is in the gelcoat rather than painted on top, so a scuff does not expose a different colour underneath. It is not a hundred-year material like bronze, and we say so when a client is choosing between the two.

Do you install, or do we arrange that locally?

Both options exist. We install directly wherever we can travel, and where we cannot we supervise a local rigging contractor and issue the full method statement, lifting plan and sequence drawings. Supervision-only is often the cheaper route once travel is factored in.

Do you provide wind load calculations?

Yes, with every piece over three metres and on request below that. Calculations are run against the site wind speed, terrain category and exposure, and issued signed. We also provide the resulting anchoring and foundation drawing so your ground works contractor is not designing to an assumption.

What site access do you need?

It depends entirely on the piece. Fiberglass work under 200 kilograms is usually a two-person lift with a tail-lift. Bronze and marble above a tonne need crane access, a hard standing for the outriggers and a clear swing radius. We issue an access requirements sheet early so this is resolved before the piece ships, not after.

Who designs the foundation?

We issue the loading plan — vertical load, overturning moment and shear at the base plate — and the holding-down bolt layout. The foundation itself is designed by the project engineer against the local ground conditions, because we cannot know the bearing capacity of your site from here.
