In the workshop

What we do

Planning starts with an access requirements sheet issued early in the programme: crane position, outrigger loading, hard standing, swing radius, delivery vehicle size, route and any restriction on working hours. On constrained sites — hotel forecourts, retail atria, station boxes — this frequently changes the design, which is why it is issued in week two rather than week twenty. The method statement covers lifting points, rigging arrangement, load spreading, exclusion zones, sequence and the hold points at which work stops for checking. Lifting plans are prepared by an appointed person and the designated rigging points are engineered and marked on the piece itself. On site we set and grout base plates, align sectional work with a laser rather than by eye, and complete on-site welding, joint dressing and finishing where the piece was sectioned for transport. Water features are commissioned as a separate stage: pump, filtration, level control and lighting have already been assembled and tested in the workshop, so site commissioning is a day rather than a week. Handover includes an as-installed photographic record, the maintenance schedule, torque records for the fixings and, where a piece is demountable, a lifting plan for whoever moves it next.

Stage by stage

How it runs

Typical durations for this stage. They are what we programme against, not best cases.

  1. Access survey and requirements

Crane position, outrigger loading, route and restrictions issued early enough to influence the design.

    Typical duration: 1 week

  2. Method statement and lifting plan

Prepared by an appointed person, with engineered rigging points marked on the piece.

    Typical duration: 1 week

  3. Setting and alignment

Base plates set and grouted, sections aligned by laser, fixings torqued and recorded.

    Typical duration: 1–3 days

  4. On-site finishing and handover

Joints dressed and finished in situ, water features commissioned, photographic record and maintenance schedule issued.

    Typical duration: 1–3 days

Equipment and standards

Named machinery, the codes we work to, and the certifications behind them.

The plant list and workshop headcounts are not published yet. Ask us and we will send the current equipment register.

What you receive

Drawings, calculations, files and certificates issued as part of the commission — not on request.

Access requirements sheet, method statement and risk assessment, lifting plan, torque records, as-installed photographic record, and the maintenance schedule for the delivered finish.
