What we do

Mirror polishing on stainless runs through a graded sequence from 80 grit to 2000 and then to compound, always after assembly so that no weld shows a different reflection — polishing before assembly is faster and produces a visibly worse result. A three-metre polished piece typically takes three weeks of polishing alone, and we programme it as such. Satin and directional brush finishes are produced to a consistent grain direction agreed on a sample, because grain that changes direction across a joint is the most common visible defect in stainless work. Powder coating is applied over hot-dip galvanising as a duplex system for anything outdoors, cured to the powder manufacturer’s schedule with recorded oven traces, and film thickness is verified at twenty points per piece. Gelcoat spraying for composite work is matched to RAL or Pantone against a sprayed sample panel viewed under the actual site lighting, not a light box. Patination is covered under bronze casting but is executed by the same finishing team. Every finish is sampled, signed and retained: we keep the approved panel until the warranty expires so any dispute about colour or texture is settled against a physical object rather than a memory.

Stage by stage

How it runs

Typical durations for this stage. They are what we programme against, not best cases.

  1. Sample panels

Finish produced on a sample in the actual material, viewed under site lighting and signed off.

    Typical duration: 1 week

  2. Preparation

Surface preparation to the specified standard; galvanising where a duplex system is specified.

    Typical duration: 1 week

  3. Application

Polish sequence, coating or spray applied under controlled conditions with recorded parameters.

    Typical duration: 1–4 weeks

  4. Verification

Film thickness, gloss and colour verified against the signed sample; panel retained.

    Typical duration: 2 days
